Running Into An Old Friend/ A Rhyme

a friend 2a friend 4

It had been too long since last we’d seen each other.

Seems like we are controlled by time,

Instead of taking hold of it.

Seconds tick away and years flash passed.

Then life events pull us together one more time,

And we embrace with hearts and heads filled with wonder.

Questioning how we so easily let time escape us,

In moments we are bringing each other up to date,

As our hearts began to warm againĀ  toward one another,

And our internal clocks connect themselves synchronizing,

Correcting and resetting as if we saw each other yesterday.

Longing For Those Enlisted In Serving America/ A Yearning Rhyme

Too far, too many miles away,

As night falls my heart makes itself known.

Friends say, You can hear their voice,”

“You can see their face on your phone.”

Yet without that human touch,

There is no spark to strike a flame.

a away

How I long for the day,

When that airplane sets you down.

Missing you is agony.

Seconds stretch into eternity.

My arms reach out.

The distance is too far.

Magically in Love/ A Rhyme

I started believing in magic as a young woman

And set out on a quest to find a life mate,

Who was as sensual as an enchanted willow,

With inner peace and strength like a majestic redwood,

a red

Who when facing the fiercest winds would not bend or break.

Someone who would dance with me,

When the band stopped playing.

a dance

Hopscotch with me in the sweet spring rain.

Chase me barefoot through rich green summer meadows.

Teach me to roll down long wildflower covered hillsides.

Make me clover crowns and daisy chain ankle bracelets.

a leaf

Rake up huge drifts of autumn leaves,

So we could run, jump and tumble in their warm colors.

Share a picnic by the fireside during snowy winter storms.

a fire

Someone capable of handling the tough decisions,

Keeping us ever honest and humble,

While illuminating my nights with his marvelous mystical charm.

My friends and family thought I was ever so silly,

And then I introduced them to you.

Home For The Holidays/ A Rhyme

a holiday 2When I was young and a holiday came round,

We chose a loved one’s home and all filed in,

Aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and beyond.

There was food to feed a nation,

a feast

Mushy, hankie called for kisses

And breathtaking, rib squeezing, too tight hugs.

Yet what everyone remembered upon returning home,

Was the kinship, the sharing.

Bringing one another up to date,

On spotlighted and tender moments within individual lives,

And the blessing of family connections.

Today there are new faces, joined with the old,

All giving thanks for tightly woven bonds.

Celebrating the Creation of You/ A Short Birthday Rhyme

a colt

Somewhere there is a new born colt wobbling to his feet for the first time and a tiny wren breaking through his shell. Probably they will never know this day is your day too.

a dew

Yet today the dew dropped more perfectly upon the earth, the mighty sun rose higher in the sky and the morning glory opened sweeter because it was your birthday.
